H.E Dr. Harib Saeed Al Amimi, President of SAI, Chairman of CoSP to UNCAC initiated the first meeting of INTOSAI Working Group on Impact of Science and Technology on Auditing (WGISTA) headed by UAE SAI and in cooperation with the US government Accountability Office and a number of audit authorities.
The Working group is assigned to study the rapid developments in science and technology in order to understand its impact on the audit practices and theories in the government sector, including suggestion of recommendations that may contribute to harness science and technology to serve auditing and anti-corruption purposes, as well as, providing training curriculums to build the professional capabilities for auditors.
The President of SAI stated that choosing UAE SAI to chair this working group indicated the professional capabilities of advanced methods adopted recently by SAI within its work in implementing audit processes. He added, the developments of different government sectors and the rapid developments in both science and technology requires from audit authorities to be fully prepared and capable to use this developments in a way the serves improving audit methods in order to promote the speed and quality level expected from audits. He also underlined that Covid-19 pandemic imposed series of challenges at global level which accelerate the usage of technology as an alternative to many practices and services which reaffirms that the future will witness many changes in all institutions of the government sector, including the audit institutions, in which ensure the sustainability of government work and providing services at high level of efficiency and effectiveness.
